Welcome to Sunday Reset, where we share how we're unwinding and what we have planned for the week ahead. This time, our editor, Julia, is plotting the perfect movie-night dinner.
Ever wished you could try Matilda's towering chocolate cake? Even if you haven't seen the film, you can probably picture it. Same goes for When Harry Met Sally's pastrami sandwich. This week, we've been talking about those iconic food scenes that linger long after the credits roll. Here are a few of my favorites:
1. Ratatouille's Ratatouille — Funny enough, the traditional version is closer to a rustic stew. You could even do a side-by-side with Alice Waters' classic take.
2. Beef Bourguignon from Julie & Julia — This scene makes me want to dive into French cooking every time. Luckily, we've got a recipe for that.
3. Goodfellas' Garlic Scene — Not exactly a dish, but the razor-thin slices still make me want to whip up
this garlic oil.
My dream? A "taste the movie" night where you cook each dish as it appears onscreen and snack your way through the story. If you're looking for inspo, we've got a throwback piece that paired movies with menus and one of my favorite old columns, Dinner & a Movie—this one on Amélie is especially sweet.
