Everything You Can Do With a Wok
A serious multitasker No Images? Click here Everything You Can Do With a Wok If you don't own a wok, you are seriously missing out. If you own a wok and are using it just to stir fry, you are also seriously missing out! These pans are serious kitchen workhorses, tackling everything from steaming dumplings to deep-frying Southern-style fried chicken. You may just find that a wok serves you better than some of the other cooking vessels you'd typically use for everyday tasks. Shop for our favorite wok Our all-time favorite wok is by Joyce Chen. It's a solidly constructed carbon steel wok with a flat bottom, so you can use it on your stovetop burner at home. Some recipes that prove our point! Tender slices of deeply seared beef, blister-y onions, juicy tomatoes, and crispy French-fried potatoes unite in this classic Chinese-Peruvian stir-fry. This is seriously one of the easiest dishes to prepare. The whole fish is steamed, then topped with fermented black beans, garlic, chili flakes, cilantro and ginger for plenty of fresh, deep flavor. While a stir-fried dish might have just enough sauce to coat each morsel of food, a wok-braised dish will have a decidedly saucy consistency, like this super-savory braised eggplant. A kimchi-and-buttermilk brine tenderizes and seasons chicken thighs, which are then fried until they're super crisp and stacked on a tender toasted bun or a flaky and buttery homemade biscuit. |
