Real quick 2: The only piece of cookware we brought to Ojai was a cast-iron pan from my mother and a couple of cake pans. (More on my adventures with cake pan cooking in a future post.) I did not want to buy much of anything until we’d been in the house and gotten a fuller sense of its aesthetic and feeling. I’ve long pined for this set of cookware from Demeyere and John Pawson. I also like this similar version from Iittala. Tad was not keen on either, so I needed time to find pieces we’d both love. After we had to borrow a pasta pot from our neighbors, I opted for a longer-term Band-Aid and ordered this pan from JB Prince, the NYC cookware store that many restaurants rely on. Homewardians: I opened it last night and I may not need a future replacement. It is so sturdy and I’m into its industrial-core look. And it cost $100! Tad approves.
