Welcome to Sunday Reset, where we share how we're unwinding and what we have planned for the week ahead. This time, our editor, Julia, muses on back-to-school feelings.
When I think of summer as a kid, it feels like a dream—a magical blur of pool days, block parties, and ice cream sandwiches that melted too fast.
That said, there are two things I definitely don't miss:
1. Mulch day. If you know, you know.
2. The moment back-to-school hit. That gut-punch feeling of walking into a store and realizing the beach toys had been replaced by notebooks and pencil cases. Just like that, the dream was over and you had to set an alarm again.
While I don't get a summer break the way I used to, August still brings that familiar feeling—a soft reset, a quiet return to routine.
And honestly? I could use it. I've been talking to a lot of parents who are gearing up (some more enthusiastically than others) and teachers who are already knee-deep in lesson plans.
So whether you're packing lunch boxes or just ready to get your dinners back on track, this week we're leaning into low-effort, high-reward meals. Think of it as your own version of school prep, but with fewer textbooks and more olive oil.
