March is Women's History Month, which sounds pretty snoozy, so we decided to call it Women Are Amazing Month because, duh, they are.
My husband reminded me of an exchange between Abigail and John Adams, quoted in amazing-woman Jill Lepore's book, These Truths. Abigail wrote to her husband, pleading for him to include women's rights in the Declaration of Independence. "I desire you would Remember the Ladies, and be more generous and favourable to them than your ancestors," she wrote. "If particular care and attention is not paid to the Ladies we are determined to foment a Rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any Laws in which we have no voice, or Representation." John Adams's response? "As to your extraordinary Code of Laws, I cannot but laugh."
We're not laughing. Bye, John.
To honor women like Abigail Adams, and countless others who persisted, we're delighted to spend this month celebrating amazing women. Each week, we'll be highlighting women in our industry, from our Shop makers to chefs to bakers.
First up is Virginia Sin, founder of Sin, a home goods company. We've worked with Virginia for a decade, and anxiously await her new designs each season. You may know her candlesticks and bowls below.
