Click here Kid-Friendly Recipes for a Mother's Day Brunch at HomeYou probably won't be going out to a restaurant this Mother's Day, but that just means it's a perfect excuse to make brunch for Mom at home. This set of recipes—including standards like French toast, vanilla-scented waffles, plush pancakes, fluffy scrambled eggs, and crispy bacon—was compiled with an eye for simplicity. Many of these main courses, sweets, and sides, like the coffee cake and cinnamon rolls, come together easily in one bowl, making them ideal projects to tackle with kids. Others, like the cream biscuits, scrambled eggs, and banana-peanut butter oatmeal, can be cooked and on the table in under 30 minutes, so they're perfect for lazy, sleepy weekend mornings. Eggs en cocotte with tomatoes and goat cheese and the German apple pancake might sound and look fancy, but they're composed of techniques that even a toddler can help with. A little bit of planning ahead will ensure brunch is on the table and ready for Mom next Sunday morning—whether she likes to sleep in or not. |

From Our Partner: You're Invited to CHI-CHI’S® Salsa Virtual Fiesta
Sponsored We love Cinco de Mayo. An excuse to eat unlimited chips, salsa, and guac? Who wouldn't? But this year, we're celebrating a little bit differently. Since many of us are self-isolating, our gatherings will need to be virtual—but thanks to the makers of CHI-CHI’S® products, that doesn't mean they won't be festive. Here’s how it works: throughout the day on May 5, the company has arranged for a mariachi band from Mariachi Heritage Foundation to continually play in a virtual celebration. Fans can have the chance to experience a private 30-minute mariachi session via Zoom, and can sign up for their chance for one of the slots by visiting here. (Hurry, the chance to sign-up ends today at 6 p.m. ET). At the end of the day, there will be a live, virtual happy hour concert from 7-8 p.m. ET where fans from across the nation can enjoy mariachi together on YouTube while eating and fiesta-ing to their hearts’ content. No-knead skillet focaccia!
No images? Click here No-Knead Skillet FocacciaIf you're anything like us, you may have recently experienced dough envy while scrolling through an endless stream of beautiful, homemade bread on social media. But sourdough bread–making can be pretty daunting, so start with focaccia, an easier, dip-your-toes-in-the-pool, quarantine-friendly bread. Unlike sourdough, which requires that you feed a hungry little starter gremlin every day, focaccia is mostly hands off. It also doesn’t require any special equipment besides a digital scale. Made with a high-hydration (80% in this case) dough, it comes together quickly in a bowl and doesn’t need to be kneaded. For this simple olive oil focaccia, we started with the same dough from our copycat trapizzino recipe, just scaled down to make one large focaccia in a cast iron skillet. To let its flavor shine, dress the focaccia simply, with olive oil and coarse sea salt—although you can add other toppings if desired. After less than 30 minutes in a hot oven, you're rewarded with burnished, crisp, golden brown focaccia, ready to be devoured—right after you snap those requisite bread thirst traps for the 'gram. The kitchen essential Cast Iron Skillet This recipe uses a cast iron skillet for even heating and the best browning. More bread-y recipes |
