Last weekend, I went home to Chicago to see my nephew. He's usually in England but made a rare appearance in the suburbs of the Windy City, so I had to fly in. As the youngest in my family, I'm not used to being around babies, so getting to witness their milestones is so exciting—like seeing them try different foods for the first time. He's about fourteen months old and, so far, he's into mashed avocado, mango, and the occasional bit of cereal.
A surprising thing he liked? Thyme! We plucked off a sprig for him to smell, and his face lit up. Personally, it's my favorite herb—and while he'll probably change his mind next week, I've been thinking about thyme-filled recipes nonstop (and secretly hoping he'll grow up to be a cook).
