Welcome to Sunday Reset, where we share how we're unwinding and what we have planned for the week ahead. This time, our editors are thinking about end-of-year treats.
Good morning!
Our favorite week of the year is officially here, and we are packing up our suitcases to head home. We can practically smell the freshly baked cinnamon rolls and white peppermint hot chocolate already. We are mentally popping champagne corks and shaking up pomegranate martinis—and generally leaning hard into anything that tastes like coffee, spice, or chocolate.
It feels like the unofficial start of the slow-down season: baking a little extra, seeing people you love, and letting yourself log off, at least a bit.
This week, we're thinking about what it really means to show up at the end of the year:
"I'm making my friends hot chocolate and spending time with my family—plus seeing Wicked with my dad at a nice theater."
"I'm showing up on my couch with Stranger Things on Christmas Day."
"Reading on the beach and taking long walks with my sisters in Florida."
"Slowing down and putting my phone away."
Here's What We're Making
"I'm tackling a Yule log this year."
"It's the perfect time of year for congee."
"A big pot of lemon chicken orzo soup."
"Cocktails for the family—classic spiced eggnog and winter gin & tonics."
To no one's surprise, Ina Garten's iconic brownie pudding is having yet another internet renaissance—which feels exactly right. If ever there were a season for warm, chocolatey, spoon-able desserts, this is it.
